Notes:	Welcome to your Bay State EMS Educators EMT Course at Boston College - Class 64! Please read the fine print regarding this course. This course will meet in person every Sunday, 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 p.m. (0900-1700 hours) and every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (1800-2200 hours) as noted in the course syllabus. Any IEP or 504 should be forwarded to Becky Valentine [email protected] prior to start of course. 100% ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES in this course. EVERYONE is EXPECTED to be PRESENT, in their seat and ready to learn, ON TIME, EVERY SINGLE CLASS. Tuition must be fully paid by the due date (09-09-2026). Tuition covers high-quality EMS education, your course book, one uniform shirt, AHA BLS (CPR) certification, programs/websites used during your course, offered ride time at a local ambulance company, and two additional practice dates prior to your practical exam date with the state. Tuition DOES NOT include: The cost of tutoring, makeup time. The Massachusetts State Psychomotor (Practical) Exam ($225) National Registry of EMTs National Cognitive (Written) Exam. ($104) The cost of these exams is the responsibility of the student, without exception. The course starts on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, and will conclude on Sunday, December 6, 2026. This course is held every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (1800-2200 hours) and every Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. (0900-1700 hours) All Boston College holidays/breaks are observed as noted in the current Boston College calendar. 100% ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED. Each course exam must be passed with a cut-score of 80% or higher. The final written must also be passed with a cut-score of 80% or higher. The breakdown of how your course grades are calculated can be found in your grade book. AFTER successful completion of ALL practical and written exams during this course, and the required third-ride time, students are eligible to sit for the NREMT Psychomotor (Practical) Exam and the NREMT Cognitive (Written) Exam. *The practical exam ($225) will be attended with your class group. You will sign up for the written exam ($104) through the NREMT website after an Authorization to Test (ATT) letter has been generated, after the successful completion of your course. *The cost of these exams is your responsibility. These fees are not included as part of your tuition.

This course will meet in person Sundays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

                    100% ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES (without exception).

Course begins Wednesday, September 9 , 2026, and will end on Sunday, December 6, 2026. 

All college holidays/breaks will be observed.

The training program for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) has an overall objective to improve the quality of pre-hospital emergency care rendered to victims of accidents and sudden illness. As such, the course develops skills in symptom recognition and in all emergency care procedures and techniques currently considered to be within the responsibilities of an EMT providing emergency medical care with an ambulance service.

The course consists of 35 lessons involving 160 hours of classroom, lecture, hands-on practical scenarios, 24 hours of online and supplemental certification courses, and 16 hours of field observation.  The curriculum meets and/or exceeds the National EMS Education Standards and is taught by a state-approved EMT Instructor/Coordinator.

This course has been developed for all individuals desiring to perform emergency medical care with an ambulance service. No prior experience or training is required of the course applicant. In order to be eligible for National and State EMT certification examination, applicants must:

• be able to read, understand, and communicate in English;

• be 17 years of age (must be 18 years of age to take NREMT certification exams);

• must have a valid driver’s license or valid government-issued identification (passport) prior to taking this course;

• be free from addiction to alcohol or any drug;

• be able to lift and carry 125 pounds;

• be free from any physical or mental defect or disease which might impair his/her ability to provide emergency care within the scope of the EMTs training and responsibilities, or which might jeopardize the health of another member of the class;

• have internet access;

• proof of vaccinations (MMR) and negative TB test.

The student must successfully complete and pass all components of the course (including 100% attendance), and tuition and exam fees must be paid in full (prior to the completion of the course) in order to be able to sit for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts EMT Practical Exam and the National Registry of EMT’s Cognitive Exam.

​Cost of the program is $1,800.  This includes books, materials, and uniform shirt.
